How talking can help
Most of us find it helpful
to talk to someone who listens and accepts us, especially when dealing
with difficult or traumatic experiences, either in the past or present.
It
can be easier to be totally frank and honest when talking to a stranger than
a family member or friend. The conversation that develops between client
and therapist enables people to make sense of the feelings experienced
and move on with their lives.
Many
people find talking to a counsellor or psychotherapist a valuable way of
gaining insight and understanding into how we have become the person we
are. |
